Found the root cause of my axle noise and lockups…

Don’t stand in front of a hydraulic hub puller that is under a lot of tension!

Today, 14th July was the Annual Clun run, a 100 mile round trip taking in lots of country roads and lanes in the area, following the instructions in the tulip guide, This was the 9th they have organised, and the 7th I have taken part in…usually in the Mog, but today in the Landie! On our return to Clowne, we get lunch, and there is a car show. Always well-attended, and great fun. Thanks to Chris Mills, my regular navigator. Mog now sports a new matching bonnet strap…the previous one had become excessively play-worn!

A couple of shows: on Saturday, the Coal Aston Gala, for which I made a quick clip-on table for the Mog to display wares for sale, and managed to sell a few nest boxes, Christmas trees and notepads, and on Sunday to the Ridgeway Car Show, but this time in the Landie, and managed to sell a few old car spares! The sales funded my habit!

was this weekend…steamies, model steamies, tractors, classic cars, trucks, stationary engines, birds of prey, even a mint VeloSolex and Landies…and ice creams! A great couple of hours here… Superb waffle cone, very nice oatie biscuit thingie,but didn’t see anyone I knew. A must place to go next year with a gang of us…

Ages ago, I had a phone call from a local lady, who had been with a friend to the Crispin at Great Longstone, the pub where the High Peak Mog centre meets. He saw copies of the club magazine, and told the lady he would love to have a ride in one.
She contacted me, and we have been waiting for some nice weather.
Today was the day, so I drove over to nearby Sheffield, and met Sam, who, it turned out, had a ride in a Mog with three others some years ago. Many years ago, in fact. The 4 of them were riding around in a 3 wheeler Mog! It WAS years ago! So, he got in the car, and we set off, only to hear a peculiar flapping noise. I stopped, got out, had a look around the car, back nearside tyre as flat as a pancake. Two minutes later, wheel changed, we set off around the area, no more snags….!
He was such an interesting man…a really skilled wood worker…pattern maker…teacher….think I will have to call back sometime to catch up on some more of his tales! I have your phone number Sam!

Held yesterday, the Monday closest to the longest day. The anticipated foul weather stayed away, so the crowds turned out, one spectator even arriving by helicopter! Superb ice creams from Hope Valley Ice Cream Co…
